About Dave Hollis | Author
David E Hollis is the author of “Damn Hooligans,” a novel that reveals an authentic perspective of a U.S. Army scout platoon navigating the intense challenges during the rise of ISIS in Iraq. “Damn Hooligans” is a raw and gritty reflection of the deep emotional strains placed on service members in combat and the somber reality of loss that resonates with those familiar with the crucible of combat. “Damn Hooligans” stands as a testament to friendship, loyalty, conflict, and courage found in the face of adversity.
Hailing from a humble town in eastern Oklahoma, Dave’s childhood unfolded in a place that was barely more than a fuel stop along Interstate 40. At the age of seventeen, yearning for an escape from what he perceived as the purgatory of middle America, he decided to enlist in the U.S. Army.
Throughout his military career, Dave found himself in demanding units, tackling challenging leadership and tactical training courses. His career included deployments to five countries and the leading of 189 combat missions in Iraq. The bonds formed with fellow soldiers and his experiences on the battlefield quietly influence the characters and stories penned in his works.
Retiring from the Army in 2010, Dave transitioned into supervisory and analytical roles within the Department of the Army and the Department of Veterans Affairs. His expertise has also extended to advisory councils for leadership programs at The George Washington University and Seton Hall University.
Residing in Virginia with his wife, Kasey, Their lives revolve around simple pleasures, such as: life on the bank of a small lake, hiking the Shenandoah wilderness, tending a small vegetable garden, time with their grandson, and the spoiling of their geriatric hound dog.
